You'll own the safe and efficient loading, securing, and rooftop placement of residential roofing materials across the Kansas City metro, including asphalt shingles, clay tile, concrete tile, metal roofs, and wood shakes. Working directly with the crew and office team, you'll coordinate daily delivery schedules with precision and care, protecting both materials and customer property. This role demands physical endurance and route knowledge, with an emphasis on customer respect and on-the-job safety. You'll join a 35-year established company known for quality installations and long-term crew stability.
What You'll Do9
- 1Load and secure asphalt shingles, clay tile, concrete tile, and metal roofing onto trucks each morning, verifying weight distribution and tie-downs.
- 2Operate a boom truck or forklift to transfer bundles to the roof, using pitch hoists and conveyor systems where needed.
- 3Stack materials on the roof in precise patterns, matching the roof pitch and layout, to prevent damage and ensure crew access.
- 4Communicate with the foreman and crew via two-way radio to coordinate delivery timing and placement across multi-story buildings.
- 5Adjust loading sequence daily based on the roof's slope and coverage area, balancing weight limits for safe transport.
- 6Inspect all materials for damage before loading, documenting any defects and swapping out compromised bundles.
- 7Protect customer landscaping, driveways, and structures with plywood, tarps, and runner boards during roof placement.
- 8Complete daily delivery logs and safety checklists, noting any incidents or equipment issues before returning to the yard.
- 9Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including fall protection and proper lifting technique, at all times.
Requirements9
- 11+ year loading or material handling experience, ideally in roofing or construction.
- 2Ability to lift and carry 80+ pounds repetitively, climbing ladders and working at heights up to 3 stories or more.
- 3Experience reading roof plans and understanding roof pitch angles to distribute materials safely.
- 4Valid driver's license with a clean record and ability to operate a flatbed truck or box truck with air brakes.
- 5Comfort working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- 6Basic math skills for counting bundles and calculating squares (1 square = 100 sq ft).
- 7Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely, and communicate clearly with customers and crew.
- 8Willingness to work overtime during peak roofing season (typically April through October).
- 9Safety-first mindset with completion of OSHA 10 training within first 30 days of hire.
