RN ICU Intensive Coronary Care Day Shift
Overview
Own patient care in a 12-bed combined ICU and Coronary Care Unit at Carrollton Regional Medical Center. Deliver day-shift nursing for adult and geriatric patients with critical cardiac and respiratory conditions. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists to drive evidence-based interventions. This role offers direct impact on patient outcomes through rapid assessment and intervention in a community hospital setting.
What You'll Do10
- 1Assess patient status on admission and throughout shift, using telemetry and ventilator data to prioritize care.
- 2Administer medications and IV therapies, titrating vasopressors and sedatives per protocol.
- 3Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to alarms, initiating ACLS protocols for code situations.
- 4Collaborate with physicians on treatment plans, updating care based on lab results and hemodynamics.
- 5Document assessments and interventions in EHR (Epic) within shift deadlines.
- 6Educate patients and families on post-ICU care, medication regimens, and lifestyle changes.
- 7Participate in bedside handoff reports, ensuring continuity and safety.
- 8Manage ventilator settings and weaning parameters under respiratory therapy guidance.
- 9Insert and maintain arterial lines and central lines, monitoring for complications.
- 10Precept new nurses and students during clinical rotations.
Requirements8
- 1Current RN license in Texas or compact state.
- 2BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
- 31+ years of ICU or CCU nursing experience preferred, but new grads with critical care rotation considered.
- 4Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- 5NIHSS certification within 90 days of hire.
- 6Physical ability to lift and transfer patients, stand for long periods, and respond quickly.
- 7Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and ventilator management.
- 8Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education.
