Overview
You own triage, stabilization, and treatment for a high-volume emergency department at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. You work 36 hours weekly on block scheduling with every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation. You collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of RNs, LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians to deliver patient-centered care. Your role sharpens critical thinking and emergency response skills, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build a patient plan of care on arrival, using EPIC to document real-time assessments and interventions.
- 2Lead shift handoffs, ensuring accurate clinical details transfer to the next care team without loss.
- 3Drive emergency response within scope, stabilizing patients in Trauma and Code Blue situations.
- 4Delegate tasks to LPNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries based on acuity and competency.
- 5Coach patients and families through diagnosis and discharge, adapting communication to age and culture.
- 6Audit your own documentation for accuracy, meeting Mercy policy and regulatory standards.
- 7Mentor new staff on unit protocols and create a healthy work environment to meet department goals.
- 8Collaborate with physicians and allied health to coordinate complex patient care in the ED.
Requirements8
- 1Iowa RN license or compact state license required.
- 2BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
- 3ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
- 4TNCC and ENPC completed within 18 months of hire.
- 51+ years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
- 6BSN preferred.
- 7Ability to rotate shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- 8Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills for high-stress situations.
