Quality & Reliability Manager - Data Center Commissioning
Overview
Own the quality and reliability of mission-critical data center commissioning at Aligned Data Centers. You will lead third-party QA specialists, enforce the Built to Run standard, and gate systems between commissioning levels. Collaborate with construction, vendors, and commissioning agents to ensure Cx Alloy tracked issues close with quality. This role drives systemic root cause analysis and continuous improvement, shaping how we deliver reliable data centers.
What You'll Do10
- 1Drive day-to-day oversight of third-party Mechanical and Electrical QA specialists, ensuring coverage and calibration to the Built to Run standard.
- 2Enforce the project's QA/QC Policy, defining pass/fail criteria for installations including torque patterns, pipe cleanliness, and cable dressing.
- 3Support coordination with third-party Commissioning Agents, reviewing scripts and deliverables, and witnessing Level 4 and Level 5 (IST) testing.
- 4Manage the master Cx Log for assigned projects, categorizing issues and driving Root Cause Analysis for Critical and High findings through verified closeout.
- 5Serve as Level 3 to Level 4 Gatekeeper, validating readiness criteria and signing the Readiness Memo before functional testing begins.
- 6Identify systemic quality patterns, quantify risk, and lead CAPA to address repeat failures across rooms or systems.
- 7Assess open deficiencies with Site Operations, defining MOPs or workarounds, and documenting risk for management.
- 8Train third-party personnel including Commissioning Managers and GC MEP Coordinators on Aligned's Quality and Commissioning programs.
- 9Manage Cx Alloy usage per project, and develop standardized reporting metrics for internal stakeholders on CX milestones.
- 10Collaborate with project teams to ensure MEP systems meet design intent, and participate in cross-functional lessons learned for process improvement.
Requirements10
- 13-6 years in commissioning, reliability, or mission-critical facilities delivery in data centers or complex MEP environments.
- 2Experience supporting Level 4 functional testing and Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing, including readiness tracking and witnessing tests.
- 3Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 4Working knowledge of BAS/controls and EPMS/SCADA trending for functional verification and troubleshooting.
- 5Ability to interpret one-lines, P&IDs, sequences, and testing documentation like plans and turnover packages.
- 6Experience with Cx Alloy or equivalent commissioning management platform.
- 7Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools: Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint.
- 8Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- 9Up to 20% travel required, and ability to work flexible hours in a 24/7 facility.
- 10Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
