Quality Control Inspector, Precision Machining & GD&T
Overview
Own quality control in a precision machining environment, ensuring parts meet customer specs from first article to final inspection at a high-volume shop. Work with machinists and production teams to uphold tight tolerances on aerospace and defense components. You will interpret engineering drawings, perform measurements, and document results to support continuous improvement. What You'll Do11
- 1Build and perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts using precision instruments and CMM when available
- 2Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to verify conformance
- 3Document inspection results and maintain accurate records for traceability
- 4Identify non-conforming parts and support root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
- 5Collaborate with machinists and production teams to maintain quality standards and drive improvements
- 6Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and customer requirements
- 7Support internal audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- 8Assist with calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment
- 9Prepare inspection reports for customers and internal stakeholders
- 10Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and rework
- 11Maintain a clean and organized inspection area to uphold safety and quality standards
Requirements10
- 12+ years of quality inspection experience in a machining environment
- 2Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
- 3Proficiency with standard inspection tools and equipment
- 4Experience with CMM preferred
- 5High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- 6Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- 7Familiarity with aerospace or tight-tolerance parts preferred
- 8Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
- 9Knowledge of ISO or AS9100 standards is a plus
- 10Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
