PV Performance Technician, Solar & SCADA
Overview
You will monitor, test, and troubleshoot C&I PV solar systems to ensure optimal energy production. You own system performance verification across rooftops and ground mounts, using SCADA and field testing to identify faults and drive corrections. Collaborating with commissioning and O&M teams, you resolve technical issues and validate data against expected performance metrics. This non-degree, experience-focused role rewards hands-on problem-solving and technical mastery.
What You'll Do6
- 1Monitor PV system performance through SCADA/DAS platforms and on-site testing, flagging anomalies in real time.
- 2Troubleshoot underperformance, inverter alarms, and system faults, pinpointing root causes from string level to AC side.
- 3Inspect modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and AC systems during periodic field audits, documenting findings and corrective actions.
- 4Validate production data against expected performance indicators (PR, energy yield) using PV monitoring software.
- 5Support commissioning and O&M teams with system start-up, handoff, and troubleshooting, ensuring smooth transitions.
- 6Assist preventive maintenance and operational optimization, applying NEC 690 & 705 standards and grounding/protection practices.
Requirements6
- 12–5 years experience in PV commissioning, operations, or electrical/solar systems.
- 2Strong troubleshooting skills for inverters, strings, and monitoring systems.
- 3Hands-on experience with SCADA/DAS, PV monitoring software, and data validation.
- 4Working knowledge of PV system electrical design, NEC 690 & 705, and grounding/protection.
- 5Ability to work outdoors in varied weather, access rooftops and electrical rooms, and climb ladders.
- 6Willingness to travel 50–75% for project assignments.
