Purchasing Assistant Manager, Automotive Components & North America Suppliers
Overview
Own the purchasing function for automotive components, leading a team and coordinating with Japan and North America plants. Scale supplier development, cost management, and commodity strategy across stamping and fabrication. Collaborate across Product Planning, Engineering, and Manufacturing to support launches and cost improvements. This role blends hands-on cost analysis with leadership in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead Purchasing Team across all platforms and coordinate with Japan to meet operational needs
- 2Supervise team members and support Product Planning and Engineering for new program launches
- 3Develop, implement and manage commodity strategy for stamping and fabrication components
- 4Generate commodity cost estimates and drive sourcing, negotiation, and supplier development
- 5Drive continuous improvement in the supplier base to support business goals and negotiate part cost and tooling
- 6Facilitate annual supplier cost improvements and manufacturing improvements
- 7Plan and direct materials and supply to reduce cost and improve quality
- 8Provide support to manufacturing plants for strategic issues and supplier performance
- 9Issue Purchase Orders for production components and tooling and report progress to leadership
Requirements10
- 1BS in Business, Supply Chain Management or Finance
- 25-7 years of Purchasing experience in automotive components
- 3Experience with stamping and fabrication commodities preferred
- 4Excellent understanding of Automotive Suppliers in North America and the Commercial Truck industry preferred
- 5Management or Supervisory experience preferred
- 6Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
- 7Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 8Strong organizational and data management skills
- 9Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
- 10Willingness to travel up to 25% and potential lifting up to 10 pounds
