Proposal Engineer, Automation & Equipment Manufacturing
Overview
Proposal Engineer at Signode leads automation opportunities from lead to installation in an office-based, global manufacturing context. You will support sales, engineering, and production across PL2 level equipment projects and coordinate with multiple departments to deliver integrated automation solutions. This role emphasizes technical layouts, survey analysis, and clear customer communication to ensure successful project outcomes. What You'll Do10
- 1Build proposals, pricing, and equipment layouts including drawings, electrical schematics, and manuals for customers
- 2Coordinate surveys detailing customer and production needs and address non-standard items with Engineering, Development, Product Management, and Supply Chain
- 3Provide automation expertise and collaborate with segment experts to recommend best equipment solutions
- 4Coordinate with departments to overcome hurdles during Engineering and Manufacturing stages
- 5Provide customers with up-to-date information including offloading specs, IP addresses, and OEM connectivity changes
- 6Coordinate project kickoffs, customer meetings, and pre-installation meetings and documents
- 7Document installation and performance issues to improve future projects
- 8Assist with project team responsibilities as needed
- 9Support engineering proposals and project management activities toward on-time, on-budget delivery
- 10Maintain strong communication and collaboration with sales, engineering, and production teams
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 25+ years of experience in equipment manufacturing engineering and automation
- 3Experience in engineering proposals and project management
- 4Ability to develop integrated 2-D layouts, 3-D modeling, and simulations/animations
- 5Strong understanding of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and line automation
- 6Knowledge of palletizing and end-of-line equipment
- 7Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- 8Experience with CRM and CAD systems (D365 CRM, AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks preferred)
- 9Office-based role with a requirement to be in the office 5 days per week
