What You'll Do10
- 1Lead mechanical design of custom automation equipment from concept through release and drive architecture decisions
- 2Perform advanced engineering calculations and ensure compliance with safety, standards, and manufacturability to meet project goals
- 3Provide technical mentorship to engineers and support applications engineering, quoting, and estimating during proposal stages
- 4Own project scope, risk, cost, and execution across full lifecycle and resolve design and manufacturing issues on the floor
- 5Collaborate with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project management teams to integrate systems and support FAT/SAT and installation
- 6Lead customer design reviews and technical discussions as primary technical contact
- 7Support continuous improvement by refining design standards, processes, and documentation to improve cost, reliability, and performance
- 8Drive change management, cost/scope control, and performance improvements across programs
- 9Develop technical documentation and best practices for future projects
- 10Identify technical risks and create robust mitigations to ensure on-time delivery
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 27–10+ years of experience in custom automation, special machinery, or engineered-to-order equipment
- 3Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
- 4Strong understanding of machine design and mechanical systems
- 5Experience with material selection and cost drivers
- 6Experience with applications engineering, quoting, or estimating, and the ability to develop accurate cost estimates and technical scopes
- 7Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers
- 8Hands-on experience supporting builds, debugging, and resolving real-world issues
- 9Background in robotics, motion control, pneumatics, or mechatronics
- 10Strong decision-making skills with a high level of accountability and ownership
- 11Excellent written and verbal communication skills
