Project Manager, Retail Construction & Store Openings
Overview
Own new store openings, remodels, relocations, expansions, and acquisition projects across North America. Manage 5-10 concurrent buildouts with budgets up to $2M each. Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role blends construction expertise with cross-functional leadership, directly supporting company growth. Work onsite in Houston with a dynamic retail team.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and monitor capital budgets for each project, tracking expenses against approved amounts
- 2Deliver progress reports to leadership, including milestone updates and budget forecasts
- 3Coordinate with design and construction teams to align on project scope and specifications
- 4Identify potential risks and create contingency plans for schedule or budget changes
- 5Manage change orders and ensure documentation is current for all project modifications
- 6Supervise contractors and internal staff, holding them accountable for assigned tasks
- 7Inspect completed work to verify quality and compliance with company standards
- 8Facilitate communication between stakeholders to resolve issues quickly
Requirements8
- 15+ years of project management experience in retail construction or shop fitting
- 23-5 years managing multiple projects simultaneously with strict budgets
- 3Strong knowledge of construction processes, including HVAC, electrical, and finishing
- 4Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for tracking and reporting
- 5Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders across departments
- 6Detail-oriented with strong numerical aptitude for budget analysis
- 7Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced retail environment
- 8Relevant bachelor's degree or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
