As Project CFO, you will own financial operations across Acadia Healthcare's behavioral health facilities, driving monthly reporting, revenue cycle, and budgeting at scale. You will partner with CEOs and corporate leadership, leading Accounting, Patient Accounting, and Health Information Management teams. This role demands 100% travel between facilities, with remote work between projects, making it ideal for a leader who thrives on variety and direct impact. You will bring 3+ years of CFO experience in behavioral health, plus CPA or Master's credentials, to a network of 250+ facilities nationwide.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Own the full monthly close cycle, delivering timely financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations that meet corporate standards.
  • 2Drive the revenue cycle to achieve cash collection goals, reduce AR days, and cut bad debt by reviewing key metrics and fixing process gaps.
  • 3Direct front-end revenue processes, including insurance verification on 100% of patients and financial counseling for patient portions.
  • 4Build the annual operating and capital budgets, using variance analysis to guide CEO decisions and keep facilities on track.
  • 5Prepare corporate reports like the Monthly Operating Report and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and on-time submission.
  • 6Lead Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health Information Management, and Materials Management, ensuring staffing and compliance.
  • 7Implement internal controls and approval processes to pass audits with zero material adjustments.
  • 8Analyze reimbursement under federal, state, and managed care rules, preparing cost reports for accuracy.
  • 9Collaborate with facility managers on financial training and performance feedback to meet budget targets.
  • 10Monitor supply costs against Group Purchasing contracts, keeping expenses within budget.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business with an Accounting major.
  • 23+ years as a CFO in a behavioral healthcare setting, with prior experience in proprietary healthcare systems preferred.
  • 3CPA or Master's degree a plus.
  • 4Proven financial analysis skills, with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • 5Demonstrated leadership ability in multi-department management.
  • 6Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • 7Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills for budget and operational decisions.
  • 8Ability to build effective relationships with facility staff, physicians, and corporate teams.
  • 9High emotional intelligence and ethics in leadership.
