Production Glassblower - Gaffer, High-Volume Studio
Overview
You will own the daily production of our signature glass pieces, including pumpkins, ornaments, cups, and acorns, using traditional Venetian techniques at a high-output scale. You’ll work with borosilicate and soft glass alongside a small, collaborative team in Cameron Park, CA. Our studio is design-driven and family-run, with a strong social media presence. This role demands precision, physical resilience, and a commitment to craftsmanship that sets us apart.
What You'll Do9
- 1Blow glass daily, producing consistent shapes via mold blowing and freehand techniques
- 2Make stems and finish ornament hoops with high precision and repeatability
- 3Handle a ten block of glass, neck lines, and drop color to meet exact specs
- 4Maintain a low seconds rate by inspecting each piece against our QC standards
- 5Work on your feet for up to 8 hours in a hot shop, including summer heat
- 6Adapt to early shifts (5:00 AM) during summer months to manage temperature
- 7Appear occasionally in YouTube and Instagram content showcasing our process
- 8Collaborate with the team to hit daily production targets without compromising quality
- 9Use off-hours studio access to experiment and refine your personal glassblowing skills
Requirements8
- 12+ years in a professional, high-volume production glassblowing environment
- 2Proficiency in mold blowing, stem making, and finishing ornament hoops
- 3Ability to handle a ten block of glass and perform neck lining and color dropping
- 4Physical stamina for 8-hour shifts on concrete in a hot shop
- 5Reliability with on-time attendance and a no-complaints work ethic
- 6Comfortable being filmed for YouTube and Instagram content
- 7Submit photos of your work and a video of you blowing glass for consideration
- 8Pass a bench test during the final interview process
