Preconstruction Manager, Commercial Paint & New Construction
Overview
Own preconstruction for commercial painting projects exceeding $1M in scope. You lead estimates from takeoff to bid win, mentor a field team, and partner with operations to secure high-value New Construction work. What You'll Do10
- 1Mentor, coach, and develop all team members to lift estimating and field performance.
- 2Attend job site visits to review existing conditions and partner with Operations Manager, Field Manager, and Foreman.
- 3Deliver solid estimates for entire project scopes, from takeoff to final bid.
- 4Ensure complete bid and cost evaluation for every project, catching risks early.
- 5Respond to RFPs and lead formal presentations for prospective clients.
- 6Review all project bid documents for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- 7Develop a preconstruction meeting schedule and monitor progress against milestones.
- 8Own the estimating pipeline and bid win rates via Building Connected.
- 9Present job schedule projections regularly and partner with Field Operations.
- 10Build and maintain expert knowledge of competitive market pricing, and analyze wins and losses to refine strategy.
Requirements7
- 15-10 years of progressive growth in commercial paint, with New Construction focus.
- 2Strong estimating experience across scopes exceeding $1M.
- 3High fluency in reading plans, specifications, and related documents.
- 4Competent with PlanSwift, Plan Grid, Building Connected, and MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- 5Flexibility for variable working hours, both office and field.
- 6Proven management experience leading teams.
- 7Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
