As a PICU RN at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital, you will own direct care for complex pediatric patients in a newly expanded 24-bed unit. You'll work with ECMO, CRRT, and advanced ventilation, partnering with a team of over 125 pediatric subspecialists. What You'll Do10
- 1Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process for critically ill children, including those on ECMO, CRRT, and mechanical ventilation.
- 2Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for conditions like sepsis, trauma, RSV, and post-transplant cases.
- 3Perform continuous assessments, adjust care plans based on acuity, and maintain 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 staffing ratios for optimal safety.
- 4Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and operate advanced equipment such as Aquadex and invasive/non-invasive ventilators.
- 5Educate families on care plans, support them during hospitalization, and ensure a family-centered environment.
- 6Document patient data accurately in electronic health records and communicate effectively with the care team.
- 7Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects to enhance patient outcomes.
- 8Mentor new nurses and contribute to a culture of excellence in this Magnet-designated hospital.
- 9Respond to critical situations, including code events, and stabilize patients per protocol.
- 10Adapt to variable shifts, including nights and weekends, to ensure 24/7 coverage in the PICU.
Requirements7
- 11+ year of pediatric or critical care in-patient RN experience required.
- 2Current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state.
- 3BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.
- 4PALS certification within 6 months of hire.
- 5Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
- 6Ability to work full-time, 12-hour shifts, including nights and variable shifts.
- 7Commitment to providing compassionate, family-centered care in a high-acuity environment.
