RN Pediatric Hem/Onc & BMT Nurse - Levine Children's Hospital
Overview
You will own complex pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant care at Levine Children's Hospital, a 247-bed flagship with 16 hem/onc beds and 8 BMT beds, plus a MIBG suite. You will deliver direct patient care, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and drive outcomes for a high-acuity population including phase 1 trial patients. The unit's 1:3/4 hem/onc and 1:2 BMT ratios let you practice deeply. What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver comprehensive nursing care for pediatric hem/onc and BMT patients, managing chemotherapy, blood products, and central lines.
- 2Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams for BMT patients, including transplant conditioning and GVHD management.
- 3Administer MIBG therapy and monitor patients during infusion, following radiation safety protocols.
- 4Lead patient and family education on treatment plans, side effects, and post-discharge care.
- 5Execute evidence-based protocols for neutropenic fever, sepsis, and oncology emergencies.
- 6Document assessments and interventions in the EHR, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- 7Drive quality improvement initiatives on the unit, using data to reduce CLABSI and falls.
- 8Mentor new nurses and orient them to hem/onc and BMT practices.
Requirements7
- 16+ months of RN experience in an acute care setting.
- 2Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state.
- 3BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
- 4PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- 5Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
- 6Pediatric or hem/onc inpatient experience preferred.
- 7Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), including weekends and holidays.
