
PCB Layout Engineer, High-Speed Digital & Allegro
Overview
Own end-to-end PCB layout for complex, high-density designs powering data center server boards. Partner with hardware engineers to deliver high-speed digital layouts for interfaces like HBM, DDR4/5, PCIe Gen 5/6, and USB 3.2+. Define design rules that balance signal integrity, manufacturability, and thermal performance. This contract role in Menlo Park puts you at the core of next-gen server technology.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build complete PCB layouts for high-density server boards from schematic through release.
- 2Route high-speed interfaces including DDR4/5, PCIe Gen 5/6, HBM, and USB 3.2+ with controlled impedance and length matching.
- 3Develop and enforce layout design rules for high-speed digital and analog circuits.
- 4Drive placement and routing strategies to minimize crosstalk and signal degradation.
- 5Collaborate with mechanical and thermal teams to align board constraints.
- 6Release fabrication and assembly files, verifying DFM and DFA requirements.
- 7Debug layout issues during bring-up and support design validation.
- 8Document layout guidelines and best practices for future designs.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of PCB layout experience, with a focus on high-speed digital boards.
- 2Expert proficiency with Allegro PCB and CAD software (equivalent tools considered).
- 3Deep knowledge of DDR4/5, PCIe Gen 5/6, and USB 3.2+ routing rules.
- 4Proven track record with controlled impedance, length matching, and stack-up design.
- 5Familiarity with signal integrity tools like HyperLynx or SiWave.
- 6Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (IPC standards, DFM).
- 7Ability to read and interpret schematics and component datasheets.
- 8Prior experience in data center or server hardware is a plus.
