Overview
You will own payroll and benefits for Eccalon, processing 5+ years of payroll data with ADP or Paychex. You handle full-cycle payroll, benefits administration, and compliance with federal and state laws. This role stands out for its focus on FMLA, ADA, and 401(k) administration, plus tuition reimbursement coordination. You will report to HR and Finance, working onsite in Detroit.
What You'll Do10
- 1Process payroll for all employees with ADP or Paychex, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- 2Manage the complete payroll cycle, calculating wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- 3Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information and benefits.
- 4Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statements, and summaries for management and employees.
- 5Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
- 6Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries, resolving issues promptly.
- 7Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, monitoring changes in regulations.
- 8Collaborate with HR and finance to reconcile payroll and benefits data and resolve discrepancies.
- 9Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- 10Administer retirement plans, including 401(k) enrollments, catch-up contributions, and benefit calculations.
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- 2Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- 35+ years of proven experience as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist or similar role.
- 4Strong understanding of payroll processes, laws, and regulations.
- 5In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- 6Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex) and MS Office Suite.
- 7Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform complex numerical calculations.
- 8Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- 9Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- 10Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- 11SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification (preferred).
