Patient Services Representative
Overview
You own patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling for a busy clinic in Tampa. You ensure smooth check-in and check-out flows, collect payments, and manage medical records. Working onsite with a tight team, you are the first and last point of contact for patients. This role demands precision with ICD-10 and CPT coding and hands-on use of EMR systems.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet patients upon arrival, manage wait times, and provide a welcoming front-desk experience.
- 2Complete check-in and check-out tasks: verify demographics, verify insurance, obtain pre-authorizations, and copy required documents.
- 3Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles, and issue receipts.
- 4Manage the cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies.
- 5Process walk-in patients and visitors, and perform periodic disinfection of the lobby area.
- 6Answer phones, schedule diagnostic and follow-up appointments, redirect calls, and assist callers.
- 7Maintain medical records: file, scan, prep for schedules, and process requests for record releases.
- 8Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Requirements8
- 1High school graduate or GED required.
- 2Strong communication and customer service skills, both in person and via phone.
- 3Working knowledge of general office procedures.
- 4Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- 51-2 years of related work experience including data entry preferred.
- 6ICD-10 and CPT coding experience preferred.
- 7Prior experience with EMR computer applications preferred.
- 8Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Salary Insight
$35 - $40k per year
