Patient Service Representative, Medical Registration & Scheduling
Overview
Own the patient front desk at a high-volume breast imaging center, handling registration, insurance verification, and payment posting for 40+ patients daily. You are the first point of contact, setting the tone for a compassionate, efficient visit. Collaborate with a tight-knit team of technologists, nurses, and front office staff. This position uses RIS software and Microsoft Office Suite daily, with cross-training in scheduling and insurance processes.
What You'll Do10
- 1Greet patients warmly and professionally, managing check-in flow to minimize wait times.
- 2Register patients completely in RIS , entering demographic and insurance data, and verify existing information for accuracy.
- 3Explain consent forms and financial policies, assisting patients with tablet-based or paper completion.
- 4Scan and link documents to patient medical records, maintaining strict confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
- 5Collect patient payments, including co-pays and self-pay balances, and explain insurance benefits after verification.
- 6Prepare paperwork for future appointments, adding exam-specific or payer-specific forms as needed.
- 7Confirm diagnostic orders for all exams, requesting missing orders and following up with providers.
- 8Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, accommodating urgent add-ons and cancellations.
- 9Generate daily invoice journal and reconcile payments using the Daily Reconciliation Report.
- 10Participate in ongoing front office training to stay current on policy and procedure updates.
Requirements10
- 1High School diploma or equivalent.
- 22+ years in healthcare registration or customer service preferred.
- 3Basic cash handling skills, including counting money and processing credit card transactions.
- 4Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- 5Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
- 6Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but sometimes complex written or oral instructions.
- 7Ability to perform basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, and percentages.
- 8Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
- 9Experience with Microsoft Office Suite , including Outlook , Word , and Excel.
- 10Knowledge of RIS software preferred.
