Patient Service Representative, Healthcare Intake & Scheduling
Overview
You own the patient's first impression and intake flow at Intermountain Health's American Fork InstaCare, handling 20 hours weekly across Sunday and Tuesday/Thursday shifts. You greet, check-in, schedule, and register patients while resolving their needs in person, by phone, or via secure messaging. Working with a close-knit care team, you document every interaction in Epic EMR and process payments. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet and check in patients at the front desk, confirming identity and updating demographic data in Epic EMR.
- 2Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and consultations using Epic.
- 3Collect and verify insurance cards, photo IDs, and signatures on all required consent and billing forms.
- 4Assist patients in completing financial assistance and regulatory paperwork before clinical care.
- 5Process patient payments for current and past services, following cash handling procedures.
- 6Document all phone interactions accurately in Epic EMR, capturing patient needs and resolutions.
- 7Coordinate insurance benefits, including pre-certification and prior authorization, on patient accounts.
- 8Educate patients on financial assistance options and available resources.
- 9Scan necessary paperwork into the electronic medical record and file it correctly.
- 10Stay current on role updates via Epic work queues, monthly newsletters, and clinic meetings.
Requirements10
- 16+ months customer service experience with direct patient or client interaction.
- 2Demonstrated basic computer skills in word processing and data entry.
- 3Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- 4Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- 51+ year customer service experience in person and by phone, preferred.
- 6Billing and collections experience, preferred.
- 7Computer literacy in Epic EMR or other electronic medical record systems.
- 8High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 9Multilingual abilities are a plus.
- 10Manual dexterity for frequent computer use and handling delicate supplies.
