What You'll Do10

  • 1Register patients for appointments, admissions, and procedures, verifying identity and insurance details in EPIC within the first 90 days.
  • 2Schedule patient visits across multiple departments, coordinating with providers to meet care needs.
  • 3Investigate and resolve patient, family, and staff requests related to registration and scheduling, escalating complex issues to management.
  • 4Complete and authenticate compliance documents for JCAHO, CMS, and ODH, ensuring regulatory standards are met.
  • 5Safeguard patient medical and financial information under HIPAA, accessing records only as needed.
  • 6Enter accurate patient data into Cerner and update system records to support revenue cycle integrity.
  • 7Contact external agencies or representatives to obtain missing information, reducing delays in care.
  • 8Prepare isolation precautions for patients with infectious disease indicators, protecting patient and staff safety.
  • 9Identify special patient needs and coordinate accommodations, such as interpreter services or mobility support.
  • 10Explain system errors to management and recommend workflow changes to improve registration accuracy.

Requirements10

  • 12+ years of work experience in a related job discipline, such as healthcare customer service, registration, or billing.
  • 2High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3Experience with EPIC or Cerner patient registration systems, preferred.
  • 4Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • 5Familiarity with compliance standards such as JCAHO, CMS, and ODH.
  • 6Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook, for data entry and communication.
  • 7Strong attention to detail for accurate patient identification and data verification.
  • 8Ability to work onsite at the Fairfield Outpatient Department in Columbus, Ohio.
  • 9Flexibility to work day shifts, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend rotation.
  • 10Customer service orientation with the ability to de-escalate stressful situations.
