What You'll Do32
- 1Accurately identifies patient in EMR system
- 2Obtains and enters accurate patient demographic and financial information through a standard work process to complete registration while maintaining confidentiality
- 3Provides exceptional customer service during every encounter with patients families visitors and OhioHealth physicians and associates
- 4Performs registration functions in any of the Patient Access areas
- 5Uses critical thinking skills to make decisions resolve issues and/or escalate concerns when they arise
- 6Uses various computer programs to enter and retrieve information
- 7Verifies insurance eligibility using online eligibility system payer websites or by phone call
- 8Secures and tracks insurance authorizations and processed BXC patients
- 9Transcribes ancillary orders
- 10Generates, prints and provides patient estimates utilizing price estimator products
- 11Collects patient out of pocket expenses and past balances to meet individual and departmental goals
- 12Attempts to collect residual balances from previous visits
- 13Answers questions or concerns regarding insurance residuals and self-pay accounts
- 14Uses knowledge of CPT codes to accurately select codes from clinical descriptions
- 15Generates appropriate regulatory documents and obtains consent signatures
- 16Identifies and/or determines patient out of network acceptance into the organization
- 17Reviews insurance information and speaks to patients regarding available financial aid
- 18Explains billing procedures, hospital policies and provides appropriate literature and documentation
- 19Scans required documents used for claim submission into patient’s medical record
- 20Escorts or transports patients in a safe and efficient manner to and from various destinations
- 21Assists clinical staff in administrative duties as needed
- 22Complies with policies and procedures that are unique to each access area
- 23Assists with training new associates
- 24Oversees functions of reception desks and lobbies including, but not limited to, cleanliness and order of lobbies and surrounding work areas
- 25Goes to the Nursing Units to register or obtain consents
- 26Uses multi-line phone system, transferring callers to appropriate patient rooms or other locations
- 27Makes reminder phone calls to patient
- 28Processes offsite registrations; processes offsite paper registrations; processes pre-registered paper accounts
- 29Maintains patient logs for statistical purposes
- 30Reviewed insurance information and determines need for referrals and/or financial counseling
- 31Educates patients on MyChart, including its activation
- 32Based on Care Site, may also have responsibility for Visitor Management which includes credentialing visitors and providing wayfinding assistance to their destination

- 1High School or GED (Required)
- 2One to two years previous experience in a medical office setting
- 3Minimum qualifications: High School or GED (Required)
- 4Experience with Spark and Airflow
- 5Knowledge of CPT codes
