Patient Registration Representative PRN Weekend Days
Overview
As a Patient Registration Representative, you will own the full registration workflow for inpatient and outpatient encounters at Liberty Hospital, a key facility in the LHC New Liberty Hospital system. You will directly shape the patient experience from the first point of contact, managing demographic, insurance, and consent processes with accuracy and empathy. Your work ensures compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer regulations. This part-time weekend role offers the flexibility of PRN scheduling while making a tangible impact on patient care.
What You'll Do9
- 1Register scheduled, non-scheduled, and emergent patients for your assigned department, verifying identity and insurance details to prevent errors.
- 2Conduct bedside admissions for direct admits, interviewing patients and families to capture complete demographic and financial data.
- 3Collect co-payments and deposits at the point of service, explaining financial obligations clearly.
- 4Enter patient information into the computer system with precision, including name, date of birth, social security number, employer, and medical record number.
- 5Obtain signatures on consent for treatment and insurance forms, ensuring understanding and compliance with facility policies.
- 6Complete MSPQ (Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire) for all applicable admissions.
- 7Maintain a constant focus on excellent customer service, greeting patients and families with professionalism and empathy.
- 8Provide coverage across admitting areas as needed, following established protocols and administrative policies.
- 9Document all encounters accurately in the computer system and on appropriate forms.
Requirements8
- 1High School Graduate or GED required.
- 21+ years of clerical, registration, or customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- 3Proficiency with computer systems and data entry, including accurate spelling and attention to detail.
- 4Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance rules and regulations.
- 5Ability to explain policies and obtain consent in a clear, compassionate manner.
- 6Flexibility to work weekend days on a PRN (as needed) basis.
- 7Strong interpersonal skills for interviewing patients and handling sensitive information.
- 8Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure in a hospital environment.
