Overview
IU Health seeks a compassionate Patient Care Technician to deliver exceptional patient experiences in a fast paced environment. This part time role involves providing bedside care and supporting bedside nurses with vital signs and patient safety measures.
What You'll Do11
- 1Provide daily patient care tasks such as offering drinks and assisting with meals
- 2Encourage patient mobility and assist with bathing and linen service
- 3Maintain patient safety using gait belts and bed alarms
- 4Report behavioral changes to the primary RN or charge nurse promptly
- 5Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure accurate documentation
- 6Follow infection control protocols to protect patients and staff
- 7Perform physically demanding repetitive movements with attention to detail
- 8Apply basic math and reading skills to complete daily tasks
- 9Organize patient supplies and maintain organized workstations
- 10Exercise judgment and initiative to resolve patient care issues
- 11Prioritize tasks while managing a high workload under pressure
Requirements10
- 1Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
- 2Completion of IU Health PCA education program
- 3Knowledge of care appropriate for adult patients in step-down units
- 4Up-to-date understanding of patient care procedures and standards
- 5Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- 6Ability to maintain concentration amid frequent interruptions
- 7Physical stamina for standing and moving throughout the shift
- 8Basic mathematical abilities and organizational skills
- 9Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- 10Willingness to work in a dynamic healthcare setting
