Patient Access Scheduling Coordinator Infusion
Overview
You will own the scheduling and registration for infusion and other outpatient services at Tampa's H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role sits within a collaborative Patient Access team that cross-covers all functions to meet business needs. You will handle competing priorities in a high-volume environment, using medical terminology and problem-solving skills. What sets this apart: you'll complete a 2-day infusion training and contribute to a mission-driven team of nearly 11,000.
What You'll Do8
- 1Schedule and register patients for Infusion, Surgery, Blood and Bone Marrow, Integrated Clinical Services, Diagnostics, Labs, Behavioral Health, Virtual Health, and Research services.
- 2Cross-cover all Patient Access functions to ensure seamless operations across the medical center.
- 3Verify patient demographics, insurance, and medical necessity to ensure complete and accurate registration.
- 4Coordinate with clinical teams to confirm appointment times, prep instructions, and required documentation.
- 5Manage high call volumes and in-person interactions, maintaining patient confidentiality and empathy.
- 6Resolve scheduling conflicts and patient inquiries using critical thinking and root cause analysis.
- 7Document all interactions in the electronic health record system accurately and promptly.
- 8Meet production and quality metrics, including adherence to training requirements and performance standards.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- 22+ years experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient access or scheduling.
- 31+ year using medical terminology in a clinical environment.
- 4Proficiency with computer systems, including typing and office automation software.
- 5Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in stressful situations.
- 6Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse patients and staff.
- 7Ability to maintain composure and courtesy under high-volume demands.
- 8Successful completion of 2-day infusion training and meeting production/quality requirements.
