Overview

Own and manage autopsy consults and preclinical studies within a cardiovascular research context for a full-time role in the Washington DC area. Work across clinical and GLP/non-GLP environments with a focus on gross tissue analysis, case tracking, and preliminary reporting. Collaborate with pathologists and research teams to support diagnostic and treatment advances.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Build case tracking systems and manage documentation for autopsy consults and clinical trials
  • 2Dissect gross tissue samples and prepare specimens for analysis using X-rays and digital photography
  • 3Disseminate preliminary reports for pathologist review and contribute to analysis summaries
  • 4Coordinate lab activities to support pathologists and researchers in a healthcare science setting
  • 5Ensure compliance with GLP, CAP, and SOP policies and procedures as applicable
  • 6Maintain organization of lab workflows and assist in data entry using Microsoft Office tools
  • 7Assist with training and mentoring junior staff on tissue handling and reporting
  • 8Collaborate with teams to support preclinical studies in GLP and non-GLP environments
  • 9Monitor equipment and maintain accurate records of workflows and outcomes

Requirements7

  • 1Candidate must have completed a Pathologists’ Assistant training program (NAACLS) or hold an MS degree in the biologic sciences with a background in gross tissue analysis
  • 2National Certification (ASCP) preferred
  • 3Hands-on laboratory experience required
  • 4Must be well organized and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5Must adhere to GLP, CAP, and SOP policies and procedures as applicable
  • 6Strong computer competence required (Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • 7Onsite, full-time role with 8-hour Day shifts, Monday-Friday in Gaithersburg, MD
