Overview

As a Paraprofessional in the LINK Program at West Clermont Middle School, you will directly support students with significant communication, social, and behavioral challenges, helping them build functional skills and access the general curriculum. What You'll Do8

  • 1Support students in the LINK Program with daily routines, transitions, and instructional activities, fostering independence and engagement.
  • 2Implement structured teaching methods and visual supports to help students understand expectations and reduce anxiety.
  • 3Facilitate functional communication by modeling and prompting verbal and nonverbal interactions, including the use of augmentative communication systems.
  • 4Assist students in developing social skills, such as initiating conversations, responding to peers, and recognizing emotions and facial expressions.
  • 5Apply sensory strategies and positive behavior interventions to help students self-regulate and manage sensory sensitivities.
  • 6Collaborate with the special education team to adapt materials and instruction for students participating in general education settings as appropriate.
  • 7Document student progress and communicate observations to the lead teacher and IEP team to inform instructional decisions.
  • 8Implement crisis prevention and intervention techniques as trained, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Requirements8

  • 11-2 years experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • 2Hold or obtain an educational aide permit with ESEA Endorsement.
  • 3CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • 4Demonstrated ability to implement behavioral support plans and use de-escalation strategies.
  • 5Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • 6Experience with visual schedules, social stories, and sensory tools in a classroom setting.
  • 7Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with physical positioning or mobility needs of students.
  • 8Committed to a team approach and willing to participate in ongoing professional development.
