Overview
Hospital for Special Surgery seeks an experienced Neurophysiology Technician III to join our growing Intraoperative Neuromonitoring team. This advanced-level role involves independent performance of complex intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring procedures and collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams to optimize patient safety.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform advanced intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring procedures including SSEP MEP EMG Nerve Conduction Studies and Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials
- 2Independently set up monitor troubleshoot and interpret neurophysiologic waveforms during complex surgical procedures
- 3Collaborate with attending neurologists surgeons and anesthesiologists to communicate significant intraoperative findings
- 4Select and modify appropriate monitoring montages based on surgical needs
- 5Ensure proper electrode placement while maintaining patient safety skin integrity and infection prevention standards
- 6Maintain and troubleshoot IOM equipment to ensure optimal performance
- 7Train and mentor physicians newly hired technicians and junior neurophysiology staff
- 8Participate in departmental research education and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- 9Maintain accurate documentation and comply with HIPAA and institutional policies
Requirements5
- 1Associate degree with formal training in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IOM)
- 2Current ABRET Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM)
- 3Minimum 3 years of experience as a Neurophysiology Technician II or equivalent advanced IOM experience
- 4Successful completion of a Level III competency assessment
- 5Demonstrated expertise performing complex intraoperative neuromonitoring cases independently
