Medical Assistant - Neurosurgery
Overview
You will assist neurosurgeons in a high-volume clinic, owning patient intake, vitals, injections, and medication administration. You will coordinate with the neurosurgery team to keep patient flow smooth and ensure accurate documentation. Providence Saint John's Medical Foundation is part of a 50-hospital, 1000-clinic network. What You'll Do8
- 1Greet patients and verify their identity, reason for visit, and medical history.
- 2Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- 3Administer injections and medications as delegated by licensed practitioners.
- 4Prepare exam rooms and ensure all instruments and supplies are ready for procedures.
- 5Assist with in-office procedures, including setting up sterile fields and handing instruments.
- 6Update EHR records with patient data, medications, and treatment plans using Epic.
- 7Coordinate referral requests and prior authorizations for specialty care.
- 8Schedule follow-up appointments and provide patients with discharge instructions.
Requirements6
- 1Graduate of an accredited medical assistant training program with clinical hands-on experience, a registered apprenticeship program, or two years of medical training in the US Armed Forces.
- 2Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant covering vital signs, injections, and medication administration.
- 3National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification within 30 days of hire.
- 40-6 months of medical assisting experience in a clinic setting.
- 56 months of experience providing high-level customer service in a clinical environment.
- 66 months of experience in a healthcare setting using an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
