Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Stroke
Overview
Join our Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center as an NP or PA and own acute stroke patient management across the full care continuum. You will admit, round, and discharge patients with ischemic stroke, ICH, and cerebrovascular disorders, and lead stroke codes. Collaborate with 6 stroke physicians, 5 neuro-intensivists, and 12 APPs, with integrated workflows spanning Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery. Spend 1/3 of your time in outpatient training across Neurology, Headache, and Cognitive clinics, with procedural training in Lumbar Punctures, Botox, and Nerve Blocks. This role offers academic growth through research and teaching in a high-acuity tertiary setting.
What You'll Do9
- 1Admit, round, and discharge patients with ischemic stroke, ICH, and cerebrovascular disorders.
- 2Lead initial evaluations and implement diagnostic and therapeutic plans for stroke patients.
- 3Manage and lead stroke codes, coordinating with the multidisciplinary team.
- 4Analyze labs, imaging, and physiologic data to guide patient care.
- 5Coordinate clinical documentation and discharge planning under physician guidance.
- 6Perform Lumbar Punctures, Botox injections, and Nerve Blocks with integrated procedural training.
- 7Provide outpatient follow-up in General Neurology, Headache, and Cognitive clinics.
- 8Collaborate with Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery in daily rounds and care transitions.
- 9Participate in research and teaching opportunities to advance neurological care.
Requirements7
- 1PA or NP with Board Certification in Adult Gerontology Acute Care.
- 2Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
- 3Current MA license, DEA, and MCSR required.
- 43+ years of experience in acute care or neurology setting preferred.
- 5Proven ability to function semi-autonomously in high-acuity settings.
- 6Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- 7Commitment to quality, safety, and evidence-based practice.
