Moderate Special Needs Teacher, Elementary Special Education
Overview
You will own specialized instruction for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) at Downey Elementary School in Brockton Public Schools. You will deliver academic support across all subjects, manage IEP compliance, and collaborate with general education teachers and parents. This role puts you at the center of student progress, with direct impact on their academic and personal growth.
What You'll Do7
- 1Deliver specialized instruction in reading, writing, math, and other academic areas per each student's IEP.
- 2Conduct special education testing and write comprehensive reports to document student performance.
- 3Lead team meetings with parents, teachers, and administrators to review student progress and adjust plans.
- 4Implement data collection systems to track student goals and monitor progress weekly.
- 5Write progress reports each quarter to inform families of student achievements and next steps.
- 6Consult with general education teachers to align modifications and accommodations across classrooms.
- 7Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse learning needs.
Requirements7
- 1Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Special Needs (or pending license).
- 2Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
- 31+ years experience with IEP development and implementation in an elementary setting.
- 4Knowledge of special education testing, data collection, and progress monitoring.
- 5Experience writing IEPs and progress reports.
- 6Strong communication skills for parent and team collaboration.
- 7Ability to work onsite at Downey Elementary School.
