Overview
We seek a dedicated Social Emotional/Emotionally Impaired Teacher at Downey School to lead inclusive education initiatives. The ideal candidate will design and implement core programs for emotionally impaired students while collaborating with general education staff. This role requires crisis management expertise and commitment to fostering supportive learning environments for students with moderate disabilities.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design and deliver core SEL curricula for grades 2/3 students with emotional impairments
- 2Develop behavioral management strategies through individualized intervention plans
- 3Collaborate with general education teachers to create inclusive classroom experiences
- 4Plan specialized lessons and consult on special education programming
- 5Track student progress using behavioral and academic assessments
- 6Communicate student outcomes through verbal updates and written progress reports
- 7Lead IEP processes including goal setting and objective development
- 8Facilitate student participation in IEP meetings and collaborative planning
- 9Apply effective classroom management techniques aligned with Massachusetts DESE standards
- 10Maintain accurate documentation of student achievements and challenges
Requirements7
- 15+ years experience teaching special education with moderate disabilities
- 2Spark and Airflow proficiency for data-driven instruction
- 3CPC Card certification preferred
- 4BCBA credential valued
- 55+ years designing inclusive curriculum frameworks
- 63-5 seasons leading educational initiatives
- 7Massachusetts DESE Licensure for Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8)
