Overview

You will spray coat medical implant devices for sintering heat treatment in a high-volume manufacturing plant in Portland. Owning the coating process from documentation review to final inspection, you will ensure parts meet strict engineering and customer specs. Working alongside a tight-knit team of 20+ coaters and technicians, you will follow ISO 13485 protocols and GMP standards. This role offers a clear path from Level I to Level II Coater with paid training and advancement opportunities.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Review Job Travelers to verify part identity, quantities, and coating specs including binder and bead mesh size, then sign off before starting operations.
  • 2Prepare binder solutions per Standard Process Instructions (SPIs) and MPIs for porous coating of medical implants.
  • 3Apply spray coating to parts using established techniques, including hand-coating via spatulation method as needed.
  • 4Visually inspect coated parts against customer requirements and use calipers and balances to verify dimensions and weights.
  • 5Perform required maintenance checks on coating equipment and verify calibration before each use.
  • 6Maintain product ID and traceability by following documented protocols and immediately flagging any questionable parts to your supervisor.
  • 7Reference engineering drawings and CAD files to confirm porous coating coverage and overlay with a comparator.
  • 8Document all operations and inspection results accurately in the MES system for full traceability.

Requirements6

  • 11+ years of previous work history in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • 2Ability to read and understand engineering drawings with respect to porous coating of parts.
  • 3Demonstrated ability to follow written instructions and Standard Process Instructions (SPIs) and MPIs.
  • 4Ability to use or learn to use measuring devices such as calipers and balances.
  • 5Prior experience as a Level I Spray Coater or equivalent is required to advance to Level II.
  • 6Effective verbal and written communication skills for team coordination and documentation.
