Overview

Lead the quality lab on 2nd shift (Mon-Thu, 2:30pm-1:00am) at LISI Aerospace, a global fastener manufacturer. You'll direct inspections, metallurgical testing, and gage calibration to keep production flowing without bottlenecks. Coordinate a team of inspectors and technicians, delegate tasks, and resolve issues in real time. This role stands out because you'll own the entire lab operation after hours, from scheduling to safety, with direct impact on aerospace quality.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Inspect semi-finished and precision-machined components like bolt blanks, washers, and threaded fasteners to customer specs and drawings.
  • 2Perform final inspection of close-tolerance fasteners using calipers, micrometers, height gages, and optical comparators.
  • 3Develop and maintain First Article inspection documents and reports per quality procedures.
  • 4Oversee GageTrak system: create, issue, and calibrate gages, including micrometers, calipers, and tri-rolls, ensuring certification accuracy.
  • 5Conduct metallurgical tests (tensile, shear, fatigue, stress durability) on in-process and final parts, preparing mounts via grinding, polishing, and etching.
  • 6Lead daily PSM 1 and 2 meetings, assign tasks, and troubleshoot issues to prevent production bottlenecks.
  • 7Train less skilled employees on inspection and lab techniques, including refresher training for inspectors and technicians.
  • 8Manage supply inventory, order supplies, and submit maintenance tickets through Summit to avoid downtime.
  • 9Review calibration certifications and ensure all test equipment meets specs before use.
  • 10Support PMRT by performing preliminary rejection reviews and assisting in dispositions.

Requirements10

  • 15-8 years of metallurgical or physical laboratory experience, or a combination of inspection and lab procedures.
  • 2High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3Proficient with calipers, micrometers, height gages, ring gages, and optical comparators.
  • 4Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5.
  • 5Experience with GageTrak or similar calibration tracking systems.
  • 6Basic mainframe computer skills, plus spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • 7Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using units, weight, volume, and distance.
  • 8Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle issues in standardized situations.
  • 9Knowledge of HSE procedures and commit to safety protocols, including proper PPE use.
  • 10Must pass background check and drug screen.
