Medical Assistant Trainee, Lab Services & Patient Support
Overview
A full-time, in-person role in Columbus, OH where you will begin as a Medical Assistant Trainee and be trained in phlebotomy and clinical support. You will be the first point of contact for patients and support front desk duties, patient intake, and lab tasks while growing toward Lab Services Specialist responsibilities. You’ll join a collaborative team focused on compassionate care and continuous feedback. This role offers hands-on training, a clear growth path, and the chance to impact patient lives from day one.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build a fluid in-office experience using C I CARE principles in patient interactions and scheduling
- 2Own front desk duties including check in/out, insurance verification, and patient outreach tasks
- 3Support team problem solving during huddles and ad hoc asks for providers
- 4Master the technology suite including Slack, G Suite, Zoom, and 1Life EMR to complete daily work
- 5Perform opening and closing duties and maintain office spaces and supplies
- 6Contribute to team development through rounding and participation in team activities
- 7Provide venipuncture and other clinical support services as you progress toward Lab Services Specialist
- 8Maintain high standards of specimen labeling, handling and processing and inventory control
- 9Respond to patient messages and assist providers with clerical duties such as billing inquiries and DOH reporting
- 10Complete One Medical clinical training and state education/certifications within six months with One Medical sponsorship
Requirements10
- 1At least 1 year of experience in high touch customer or patient facing roles
- 2Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships
- 3Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 4High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5Proficiency with computers and multiple software systems
- 6Experience working with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote teams a plus)
- 7Proven ability to remain confident and trusted with patients while delivering human-centered care
- 8Demonstrated adaptability and learning ability in new situations
- 9Eligible for Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire based on location
- 10Willingness to obtain BLS certification within 60 days of hire if required by metro area
