Medical Assistant Trainee, Healthcare Training Program
Overview
Medically oriented training role at Highmark Health with hands-on practice in physician offices and affiliated sites. Trainees travel 2 days per week for clinical exposure and work 3 days per week in a physician office during training. After certification, status moves to full-time clinical support with eligible compensation boosts. What You'll Do9
- 1Build patient care skills by preparing exam rooms and assisting in examinations and procedures using standardized workflows
- 2Document accurately in the electronic health record and manage patient information with precision
- 3Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs and history, and assist with screening tools
- 4Provide follow-up communication with patients per provider instructions
- 5Maintain inventory of medical supplies and perform lab controls and equipment checks
- 6Support coordination of patient care under supervision of the health care provider
- 7Ensure smooth patient experience through team-based care delivery
- 8Assist in maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment
- 9Handle miscellaneous duties as assigned or requested
Requirements9
- 1Required High School/GED
- 2Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- 3Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- 4Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- 5No prior formal Medical Assistant training required
- 6Preferred Previous patient care experience
- 7Ability to travel to training sites two days per week and work the remaining three days in a physician office
- 8Commitment to 40 hours per week during training and post-certification
- 9BLS preferred
