What You'll Do9
- 1Room patients promptly using Epic EMR to review and update history, allergies, and medications, and note refill requests for provider review.
- 2Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs and screening tests, and document results accurately in EMR.
- 3Collect specimens including phlebotomy and nasal swabs, run lab tests, and record results per Point of Care Testing guidelines.
- 4Assist with minor surgical procedures by handing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and positioning patients.
- 5Administer medications, injections, and vaccines per regulatory guidelines, and read PPD results under provider direction.
- 6Coordinate care with specialists, labs, and hospitals via phone, and document all communications in EMR.
- 7Complete medical forms, scan documents, and send patient correspondence as required.
- 8Maintain infection control by following universal precautions, cleaning instruments, and stocking exam rooms.
- 9Perform daily code/crash cart checks, monitor medication storage, and log refrigerator temperatures.
Requirements5
- 1BLS/CPR certification as a healthcare provider per the American Heart Association (required).
- 2MA Certification within 90 days of hire (required).
- 3High school diploma or GED (required).
- 4Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or 2+ years working as an MA, or 1+ year as a Clinical Support Representative at Penn Medicine (required).
- 51+ years related experience (preferred).
