Medical Assistant - Outpatient Clinic & Patient Care
Overview
You will own patient flow and clinical documentation in a busy outpatient practice at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. You will support physicians during exams, perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections, and act as the liaison ensuring patient satisfaction. You will also manage clinical supplies and adhere to HIPAA protocols daily. This role offers direct patient interaction and the chance to earn CMA certification within 180 days.
What You'll Do8
- 1Escort patients to exam rooms and confirm their identity before every encounter.
- 2Document vital signs, medical histories, and quality measures directly into EPIC within your first 90 days.
- 3Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and venipuncture.
- 4Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections per physician orders.
- 5Communicate patient needs to physicians to ensure satisfaction and smooth workflow.
- 6Order clinical supplies and maintain inventory to keep the office stocked.
- 7Protect patient privacy by following HIPAA rules in all interactions.
- 8Perform point-of-care tests and prepare lab specimens for transport.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2Specialized Diploma in medical assisting from an accredited program (for NJ locations).
- 3CMA Certification from AAMA within 180 days of hire.
- 41+ years experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- 5Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
- 6Ability to read and interpret patient charts, including medication sheets and test results.
- 7Proficiency with EHR systems and documenting clinical data.
- 8Physical ability to lift 25 lbs and perform CPR if needed.
