Medical Assistant General Surgery, Phoenix & General Surgery Center
Overview
You will support clinicians and nursing staff in a high-volume surgical clinic, delivering patient care and administrative support at Banner Health in Phoenix. You will room patients, take vitals, assist with procedures, and maintain accurate EMR documentation. You will also back office duties like scheduling, referrals, and coordinating tests to ensure smooth patient flow. This role offers growth opportunities within a nationally recognized academic medical center and a path toward nursing and advanced certifications.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build patient readiness for exams by recording vital signs and symptoms and updating EMR
- 2Assist providers with in office exams and minor procedures including phlebotomy and EKGs
- 3Coordinate patient care with pre-certifications referrals and scheduling and communicate results to patients
- 4Provide clerical support and maintain complete medical records for billing and compliance
- 5Maintain a clean safe environment and ensure proper equipment disinfection and maintenance
- 6Order supplies stock rooms and manage medication related tasks
- 7Develop and maintain effective communication with patients and internal/external stakeholders
- 8Complete onboarding and simulation training as needed
- 9Work under supervision of providers and adapt to multiple departments and care teams
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or GED
- 2Completion of an approved medical assistant training program
- 3Active Medical Assistant Certification
- 4BLS certification
- 5Strong computer skills and experience with medical software
- 6Ability to manage multiple changing priorities
- 7Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for some settings
- 8Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required on hire
- 9Experience with EMR and scheduling software preferred
