Mechanical Designer, HVAC & Plumbing Drafting
Overview
You will own the creation of permittable mechanical and plumbing plans under the guidance of a licensed engineer, transforming rough sketches into precise CAD documents for a part-time role in Towson, MD. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical and structural components. This entry-level position offers direct mentorship and a path to grow within a diverse engineering firm. You will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD and REVIT while contributing to real-world projects from day one.
What You'll Do8
- 1Transform initial sketches into working drawings using AutoCAD or REVIT to produce accurate mechanical and plumbing plans.
- 2Collaborate with engineers to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, and other plan components.
- 3Verify drawings for compliance with design concepts, customer specs, and code standards, making corrections as needed.
- 4Assist senior staff in preparing project documents and managing design changes to existing drawings.
- 5Support project managers in revising scope or budgets based on design requirements.
- 6Attend project meetings to align on design progress and address technical issues.
- 7Use design templates and tool palettes to streamline drafting workflows.
- 8Learn and apply drafting standards and procedures under direct supervision.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 2Associate's degree in mechanical drafting or design preferred.
- 3Entry-level position, no prior experience required.
- 4Experience with AutoCAD or REVIT and familiarity with construction plans.
- 5Ability to create 3-D mechanical models and generate drawings from them.
- 6Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing design and drafting procedures preferred.
- 7Skill in processing engineering changes to existing drawings.
- 8Proficiency with standard office equipment and data analysis.
