Mechanical Associate HVAC Engineer - AlfaTech San Francisco
Overview
You will own mechanical design and project delivery for small to medium building projects at AlfaTech, a consulting engineering firm in San Francisco. Your focus: high-performance HVAC systems, sustainability, and code compliance. You will lead a team of junior engineers, manage budgets, and coordinate with architects and clients. What You'll Do10
- 1Design HVAC, fire suppression, and plumbing systems for new and existing buildings, creating documents, drawings, and specifications.
- 2Lead small to medium projects as the engineer of record, owning schedules, budgets, and client communication.
- 3Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing using Trace 700 and other analysis tools.
- 4Conduct field audits, feasibility studies, and basis-of-design reports for existing building evaluations.
- 5Implement quality assurance procedures and ensure designs meet LEED standards and local building codes.
- 6Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to integrate mechanical systems smoothly.
- 7Review submittals and respond to RFIs to keep construction on track.
- 8Mentor junior engineers and designers, guiding them on technical design and best practices.
- 9Drive innovative solutions for complex design challenges, presenting options to stakeholders.
- 10Maintain strong client relationships and represent AlfaTech in design and construction meetings.
Requirements10
- 18-10 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on HVAC for buildings.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; master's degree or PE license preferred.
- 3Expert proficiency in Revit and BIM 360.
- 4Strong working knowledge of Energy Pro, CBECC.com, or eQuest.
- 5Deep understanding of state and local building codes, LEED standards, and energy compliance.
- 6Proven track record of leading successful HVAC design projects with satisfied clients.
- 7Exceptional communication skills to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- 8Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- 9Experience with large-scale projects and field work is a plus.
- 10Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and engineering software.
