Materials Manager, SAP & MRP Driven Planning for Manufacturing
Overview
Own material planning and production scheduling for a manufacturing operation at scale. Lead inventory control, material availability, and WIP management to meet customer demand. Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and Warehouse to maintain accurate planning data and achievable production plans. Drive continuous improvement in planning processes and inventory control to minimize shortages and excess. This role combines leadership with hands-on planning in an on-site setting in Houston.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and maintain production and material plans in coordination with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams.
- 2Monitor inventory levels, material availability, shortages, and purchasing requirements to prevent production disruptions.
- 3Identify constraints and develop solutions to keep schedules on track.
- 4Coordinate purchasing requirements and supplier priorities based on production needs.
- 5Maintain accurate planning data, forecasts, inventory information, and production schedules within ERP/SAP systems
- 6Analyze inventory, production, and material requirements to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- 7Work with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping, and Sales to resolve scheduling and material issues
- 8Prepare and maintain reports, forecasts, and performance metrics related to materials and planning
- 9Support continuous improvement initiatives involving inventory control, planning processes, and production flow
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 25+ years of experience in materials planning, production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations
- 3Strong understanding of MRP, inventory management, production scheduling, and material requirements
- 4Experience working with SAP or a comparable ERP system
- 5Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- 6Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple departments
- 7Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- 8On-site work expected 90% of the time
