Production Planner Master Scheduler, Manufacturing & SAP
Overview
Own production and build planning for a high-volume manufacturing site in San Jose, driving schedule adherence and material readiness across multiple product lines. You'll bridge engineering, supply chain, and operations, using SAP and Agile PLM to translate demand into executable build plans. In this role, you'll manage capacity, mitigate shortages, and ensure ECOs flow smoothly without disrupting production. Scale your impact by optimizing planning processes and delivering metrics that guide executive decisions. This is a hands-on planning role where your tactical execution directly shapes on-time delivery and factory output.
What You'll Do8
- 1Create and maintain master production schedules for assigned product lines using SAP and Agile PLM, balancing demand signals with capacity constraints and material availability.
- 2Generate build plans that meet customer ship dates while minimizing excess inventory and changeover waste, focusing on the first 90 days to achieve a 95% schedule adherence.
- 3Monitor daily material shortages and expedite critical components with supply chain teams, using SAP reports to preempt stockouts before they impact production.
- 4Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing on Engineering Change Orders, assessing impact on build schedules and coordinating phased implementation to avoid line stoppages.
- 5Partner with demand planning to analyze forecast variations, align build quantities, and recommend inventory buffers for critical components or long-lead items.
- 6Produce weekly capacity and backlog reports that highlight risks to the management team, and drive cross-functional resolutions on constrained resources.
- 7Drive weekly planning cadence with production supervisors and material managers to reallocate labor and line time in response to changing priorities.
- 8Leads root-cause analysis on missed shipments and schedule deviations, implementing corrective actions to improve planning accuracy over time.
Requirements10
- 13-5+ years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a planner or master scheduler role (buyer-only experience insufficient).
- 2Hands-on proficiency with SAP (PP or MM modules) for MRP, BOM, and work order management, including running stock requirements and availability checks.
- 3Working knowledge of Agile PLM for ECO management and revision control, with ability to assess production impact of revisions.
- 4Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) to analyze large datasets and build planning templates.
- 5Experience with shortage management, inventory control, and demand forecasting in an electronics or high-tech manufacturing context.
- 6Solid understanding of capacity planning and master scheduling (MPS) principles, including safety stock and lead time calculations.
- 7Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, production) to resolve conflicts and prioritize tasks.
- 8Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of using data to drive decisions.
- 9Excellent communication skills, able to clearly present schedule status and risks to senior leaders.
- 10Strong organizational skills, handling multiple product lines and priorities in a fast-moving production environment.
