Manufacturing Technician 2 (Composites) | Applied Composites
Overview
You will own production processes for custom composite parts, executing non-standard tasks with CNC equipment and advanced materials. You work from blueprints and engineering specs, handling both layup and trimming operations in a high-mix facility. Your work gets reviewed for technical adequacy, but you operate independently after initial direction. This role offers exposure to aerospace-grade fabrication with clear growth paths.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build complex composite assemblies from engineering drawings, using layup techniques and autoclave cycles.
- 2Operate CNC routers and trim tools to achieve tight tolerances with frequent modifications.
- 3Inspect finished parts against GD&T callouts, documenting non-conformances in the MRP system.
- 4Set up and calibrate calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment for first-piece verification.
- 5Drive continuous improvement by suggesting fixture and tooling adjustments to reduce cycle time.
- 6Train new technicians on safe composite handling and resin mixing procedures.
- 7Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following FOD control and 5S protocols.
Requirements7
- 12+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably with composites or aerospace parts.
- 2Proven experience reading blueprints and applying GD&T tolerances.
- 3Hands-on skill with power tools and manual CNC operation.
- 4Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality inspection tools.
- 5Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- 6Basic computer literacy for data entry into Excel or MRP systems.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
