What You'll Do8

  • 1Build process improvements that cut costs by 15% and boost throughput within the first 90 days. Analyze existing workflows and implement Lean and Six Sigma methods to eliminate waste.
  • 2Own the process documentation lifecycle, including standard operating procedures and CAD drawings, ensuring they stay accurate and accessible to the production crew.
  • 3Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability of new components, catching issues early and designing for producibility with SolidWorks.
  • 4Lead the design and procurement of custom tools, fixtures, and automation equipment that enable precise and repeatable assembly of fusion magnet components.
  • 5Debug equipment malfunctions on the line, using root cause analysis to implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence and minimize downtime.
  • 6Run time and motion studies to set labor standards and identify optimization opportunities, aligning with production targets.
  • 7Champion continuous improvement initiatives, from 5S events to Kaizen workshops, and track metrics using ERP systems to ensure sustained gains.
  • 8Screen emerging technologies and automation solutions, piloting those with the highest potential to enhance our manufacturing capability.

Requirements9

  • 15+ years in manufacturing or production engineering, with a proven track record of process improvement in a high-tech environment.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering from an accredited program.
  • 3Hands-on expertise with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, including DMAIC and value stream mapping.
  • 4Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD for creating and modifying production tooling and layout designs.
  • 5Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to track production metrics and materials.
  • 6Strong analytical skills to interpret data from SPC and FMEA studies, turning numbers into action.
  • 7Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, from engineers to technicians, and thrive in a team-oriented setting.
  • 8Physical capability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and stand for extended shifts in a fast-paced environment.
  • 9Commitment to safety protocols, including handling hazards like high voltage, cryogenics, and strong magnetic fields.
