Overview
You will own preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on rail cars and plant equipment at a cement facility in Charlotte, NC. This role centers on MIG welding, millwright work, and 480V electrical troubleshooting. You will work in a small team of 2-3, covering maintenance, pipefitting, and grounds duties. What You'll Do9
- 1Perform ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance on rail cars and equipment for packaged cement transport, focusing on MIG welding and mechanical repairs.
- 2Carry out MIG welding and cutting assignments, fabricating and repairing plant equipment and structures per plant standards.
- 3Complete millwright tasks including bearing replacement, equipment alignment, and inspection of power transmission systems.
- 4Troubleshoot 480V electrical systems and rail car batteries to ensure safe operation.
- 5Inspect lubrication systems, record equipment data, take lab samples, and change oil and filters on reservoirs.
- 6Install, maintain, and inspect piping structures and perform plumbing repairs on plant facilities.
- 7Operate mobile equipment and perform heavy lifting to complete maintenance tasks.
- 8Access equipment located 26 flights of stairs above ground to perform repairs on product transportation systems.
- 9Conduct facilities and groundskeeping duties during downtime, including general labor and equipment alignment.
Requirements10
- 1MIG welding experience required, with ability to perform welding and cutting on plant equipment.
- 22+ years mechanical maintenance experience, including small engine repair and troubleshooting.
- 3Experience with millwright tasks such as bearing replacement and power transmission repair.
- 4Knowledge of 480V electrical systems and safe troubleshooting of rail car batteries.
- 5Ability to inspect and maintain lubrication systems, including oil and filter changes.
- 6Pipefitting skills for installation and maintenance of piping systems.
- 7Comfort in a hot, older industrial environment with outdoor conditions and manual labor.
- 8Ability to climb 26 flights of stairs and lift heavy objects as part of daily tasks.
- 9Strong safety mindset and adherence to all safety protocols, including wearing PPE.
- 10Willingness to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, up to 30 hours extra during peak season.
