Lead Security Technician, Access Control & CCTV
Overview
You will own the installation and programming of burglar alarm systems, CCTV and IP cameras, fire and life safety alarms, and access control systems across the Northern NJ and NYC territory. As a subject matter expert, you will lead complex projects end-to-end, from design to commissioning. You will work directly with clients and internal teams, ensuring every system meets code and operates flawlessly. This role stands out for its mix of hands-on technical work and leadership, with a company vehicle and a steady pipeline of enterprise projects.
What You'll Do10
- 1Install and program burglar alarm systems, including sensors, panels, and keypads, on commercial sites.
- 2Configure CCTV and IP camera systems, set up NVRs, and tune video analytics.
- 3Install and test fire and life safety alarm systems, ensuring compliance with local codes.
- 4Deploy access control systems, including card readers, maglocks, and software integration.
- 5Lead project execution from first walkthrough to final testing, managing timelines and subcontractors.
- 6Troubleshoot complex system failures using diagnostic tools and manufacturer documentation.
- 7Train junior technicians on installation best practices and code requirements.
- 8Coordinate with general contractors and project managers to align schedules and specs.
- 9Complete site surveys and create system layouts for client approvals.
- 10Document all work with detailed notes, photos, and as-built diagrams.
Requirements10
- 15+ years installing and programming burglar alarm, CCTV, IP camera, and access control systems.
- 2Hands-on experience with fire and life safety alarm systems, including addressable panels.
- 3Proficiency with CCTV software platforms such as ExacqVision, Milestone, or Avigilon.
- 4Working knowledge of BICSI or NICET standards for low-voltage systems.
- 52+ years in a lead or supervisor role on commercial installations.
- 6Valid driver's license with a clean record for company vehicle use.
- 7Ability to read blueprints and technical schematics.
- 8OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- 9Willingness to travel daily within Northern NJ and NYC metro area.
- 10High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification a plus.
