What You'll Do11
- 1Organize and oversee daily work activities of the department while ensuring proper workflow management
- 2Partially accountable for team member outputs and act as department leader
- 3Identify and resolve complex problems within Interpreter Services and serve as a resource
- 4Apply expertise to guide staff on standardized methods and maintain consistent work quality
- 5Conduct medical and general interpreting/translation for patients and families in various settings
- 6Lead department initiatives and develop new programs aligned with organizational goals
- 7Mentor other interpreters and promote professionalism throughout the team
- 8Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and hospital policies
- 9Perform medical interpretation in consecutive and sight translation during high-pressure situations
- 10Translate After Visit Summaries independently with attention to accuracy and timeliness
- 11Coordinate language access services including phone interpretation and sign language arrangements
Requirements11
- 1Master's degree in translation and interpretation or equivalent experience
- 2One year of hospital experience or three years of relevant experience
- 3Health Care Interpreter certification within 548 days of hire or Certification for Medical Interpreters within 548 days
- 4Native or near-native proficiency in English and a non-English working language
- 5Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and cultural competency
- 6Ability to handle fast-paced and emotionally challenging environments
- 7Strong leadership skills with direct authority over staff and training responsibilities
- 8Experience with consecutive and simultaneous interpretation modalities
- 9Proficiency in advocacy for patient safety and autonomy
- 10Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- 11Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
Salary Insight
$92 - $104k per year
