Lead Cable Technician, Healthcare Structured Cabling
Overview
The Lead Cable Technician owns all MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) work across multiple healthcare facilities in the DC area, serving as the primary technician for Cat6 infrastructure projects. This role sits within a 50-year-old employee-owned engineering firm, supporting a team that installs and maintains critical telecommunications systems. You'll lead small crews and direct helpers, interacting daily with clinical staff. What You'll Do7
- 1Execute MAC work orders for telecommunications infrastructure, including closet build-outs and rack-and-stack of equipment.
- 2Install structured cabling systems, performing Cat6 cable pulling, termination, and certification testing with Fluke equipment.
- 3Troubleshoot and resolve cabling and network issues in healthcare settings, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
- 4Lead and direct small crews on project sites, assigning tasks and ensuring quality workmanship.
- 5Coordinate with the Project Manager to prioritize work tickets and manage schedules across multiple facilities.
- 6Adhere to infection control procedures and healthcare facility standards during all installations and changes.
- 7Document all work thoroughly, including test results, as-built updates, and ticket completion records.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of structured cabling experience, including Cat6 installation, termination, and certification.
- 2Healthcare telecommunications experience, with knowledge of infection control standards and facility protocols.
- 3Hands-on experience with Fluke testers for cable certification and troubleshooting.
- 4Fiber optic cabling experience is a plus, as is familiarity with structured cabling manufacturer solutions.
- 5Strong customer-facing skills and professionalism, comfortable interacting with clinical staff.
- 6Experience leading small crews or directing helpers on project execution.
- 7Valid driver's license and ability to travel between regional project sites in Maryland and DC.
