Laboratory Technician, Food Safety & Quality Testing
Overview
You will own routine analytical testing for a food manufacturing company, supporting food safety and quality teams in Elk River, MN. This entry-level role covers food and feed samples, equipment monitoring, and regulatory compliance. Work alongside quality assurance specialists and report to intermediate supervision. This seasonal position offers exposure to laboratory instrumentation and PPE protocols, with a dedicated grinding room and specialized airflow systems.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run routine analytical tests on food and feed products, including raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
- 2Monitor laboratory instrumentation performance, performing calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs.
- 3Prepare samples using laboratory grinding equipment, wearing required PPE in the dedicated grinding room.
- 4Interpret and document test results, entering data into laboratory databases with precision.
- 5Communicate results to internal customers and maintain specification books and laboratory documentation.
- 6Support food safety and regulatory compliance initiatives, following laboratory procedures.
- 7Conduct quantitative and qualitative inspections independently, escalating complex issues to senior staff.
- 8Assist with trials and experiments under supervision, handling clerical and technical tasks as needed.
Requirements8
- 1Entry-level laboratory experience acceptable; no prior degree required.
- 2Ability to follow laboratory procedures and safety protocols with strong attention to detail.
- 3Perform repetitive testing on 100-gram samples and operate grinding equipment throughout the day.
- 4Strong documentation and record-keeping skills for accurate data entry into databases.
- 5Basic computer skills for data entry and report writing.
- 6Work independently with intermediate supervision and communicate clearly with team members.
- 7Read and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
